As Charles Conder turns in his grave

The Land And Property Services / Economic Development Directorate has announced the start of consultations for land release in Ngunngawal, Chisholm and Conder.

Sadly the dreaded soaring bird appears to be continuing it’s takeover with even the Government bodies in charge calling it Condor rather than Conder. With albeit without consistency.

Got my letter today about the Block 2, Section 590 – Chisholm release. The letter from the Communications Unit (Economic Land Development) is a little misleading as you can’t get to the website offering full details (www.edd.act.gov.au) as it’s not up and running yet – instead you have to go to http://www.laps.act.gov.au. Thanks for that Canberra Connect 🙂 When I phoned the given contact number there was no answer and no voicemail operating but this has now been remedied. This site, which locals know as ‘The Park’, was in the original Chisholm plan as commercial, however this consultation could in theory be the impetus to have it changed to residential. The playground is on the commercial land and could be relocated to the green space at back but the site being released for sale to commercial interests could mean a medical centre or corner store etc. or anything commercial. Residential could mean high density units like we see around Bonython and Greenway. If you care about the amenity you enjoy with this space then give them your views as without them they will detect no interest and it will be too late to complain about changes later.

OMG, Looks like my kids who have been attending Charles Conder Primary, will be moved to St Claire of Assisi next term (according to TAMS “have your say” map). Hope the standards dont drop to St.Claires though!

Haha, I was wondering how long it would take for someone to run with that angle.

Sadly the answer for native birds is no, because us humans keep shooting them, driving into them or turning their homes into land development.

It’s back to Conder now.

Ah, yes Charles Conder. The Australian artist who died from syphilis. They don’t mention *that* on the TAMS website 😀

That block in Chisholm is actually a nice little park….

Thay fail to mention that bit in the letter to residents.

Retail? Surely the only thing that will be cost effective for a builder would be a nice big set of flats.

Every time someone calls Conder, Condor, God kills a kitten.
