Asian Tiger vs Sammies Kitchen Laksa

A new place that serves Laksa has just opened up in the Canberra Centre extension just below the Dendy Cinema – here’s a blow by blow comparison:

A SK Laksa for comparison purposes is a straight 10/10/10

AT Taste (Flavour) = 10
Size = 10
Ingredients = 9
Decor/Cutlery = 8
Waiting Staff = n/a
Cost = 10

Details:
The AT Laksa is a very nice laksa, although there was only one type of noodles in the Laksa, as well as the novel ingredients (Chinese) carrots. Comparable in size and ingredients otherwise, I was impressed by the amount of chicken which was slightly more than a SK Laksa. It was also amusing to eat in a thoroughfare, something I usually abhore and avoid, which necessitated going to the counter to order your food as well. Cutlery is plastic spoon and disposable chopstics.

Overall rating, I give it a 8, but given it’s close proximity to Sammy’s, probably won’t be returning as I know there is a better Laksa just over the road. If this shop was in Belconnen Mall (massive suggestion – why is there no laksa to be found in Belconnen Mall?), I would probably reconsider.

Civic Noodle House is THE place to go for a BBQ pork laksa. Followed very closely by Dickson Noodle House. (also, the chinese place next to KFC in the Belco mall does a $7.50 laksa, but it’s definitely food court standard…)

A SK Laksa is rated at 10/10/10

DNH got an 11 for flavour and a 9 for presentation

Nickson Doodle House is the goods. I don’t mind the Sammy’s Laksa, but wouldn’t rate it above all others.

I know the place Thumper. And hot means fkin hot!

Why doesn’t the “food court” in Belco Mall stay open as long as the cimema does? Never understood that logic…

I refuse to eat laksa at anyplace other then dickson noodle house, although sammys comes a close second:)

The Curry House at Belco does an interesting Laksa…not the best ever, but not the worst either.

Also, unless all the staff have moved, Asian Tiger is the same business as ‘Dai Ho’ in the old Canberra Centre food court. The food is certainly the same…

You can get laksas at the mall from the sushi place (not sizzle bento, the one next to donut king), and they’re not too bad
