Ask RiotACT

I am moving to Canberra in the new year and will be working in Belconnen, so I am looking at the surrounding suburbs. Are there any recommendations for primary schools in that general area?

I would like to avoid the schools where bullying is more likely to be a problem (obviously).

Most public Primary Schools are full and are only excepting students from their feeder suburbs.

If you’re looking to send your child/ren to a school outside your zone, your chances are very slim unless it’s a private school.

Macquarie Primary of course. I may be biased though as I went there. They have also turned it into a jail in the last 5 years like they have with a lot of primary schools. Approximately 3-4km of fences preventing kids from using the play equipment on the weekend. Good job government! Google it, it’s truly hideous.

Brindabella Christian College in Charnwood is excellent. They have a very strong anti-bullying ethos there, according to some friends of mine who have their kids enrolled.
