Ask RiotACT

Hi all. I have been a regular client of Fiore, the professional, no-nonsense barber at Curtin shops, for many years.

Yesterday I turn up for my infrequent but increasingly necessary haircut and I find his shop is gutted, with no sign on the door explaining his absence.

Does anyone know what happened to Fiore?

I understood that he owned his own shop – no landlord! He’s retired to the North Coast.
There’s a really good barber right next door.

I happened to be out that way today and dropped in to the Curtin shops. Fiore’s barber shop was open and Fiore was in there cutting hair. Given what’s been said on the thread so far, I can only conclude:

1) After his shop was gutted 10 days ago, he’s put everything back – exactly as it was before!
2) The landlord either backed away from the dramatic rent increase or Fiore decided that he was willing to pay it
3) 10 days up north was more than he could bear and he’s decided that sea changes are overrated.

He’s welcome back, anyway, wherever he’s been.

🙂

I think someone visited the wrong barber.

Glad to hear Fiore the Barber is still a going concern. Great haircuts and great conversation.

Fiore’s giving a sea change a go. Gone up north to the sun and surf.

He can’t do that! Who the hell is going to cut my hair???

I know! The hunt is on for a good barber.

The landlord increased his rent dramatically I am told.

Rates and land tax on a tiny shop like that would be about $8,000 a year.

That’s about 270 haircuts.

Who would even want to turn up to run a business under those conditions?
