Ask RiotACT

Hi Rioters.

I’m looking at tracking down some cherries for Christmas day.

Over the last few weeks I have seen an occassional van by the side of the road.

However I drove around yesterday and couldn’t see any.

Does anyone have any recommendations on the best place to buy cherries between now and Christmas?

Thanks in advance.

Alpha Fresh Foods in Raws Crescent, Hume have 5kg cases of Victorian cherries for $50. They are very fleshy and actually taste like cherries of old. It doesn’t get any better than that.

There’s usually a guy on Isabella Drive (have moved so haven’t been in the area this year but he’s been setting up there for years). Could also try the various farmers markets this weekend. And often along the Federal highway heading out past Watson there’s usually someone. Young did cop some bad weather a few weeks ago so the stock may be in short supply. Could explain the absence of sellers around the place.

I bought some cherries from a van near Federal Golf course on Hindmarsh drive last weekend. They were delicious!
