Assaults in Civic

There seems to be a spate of assaults happening in Civic on weekends at the moment.

I know of at least three guys being king hit from behind last weekend.

It seems the coppers haven’t even had time to log them all in ‘the system’. [Ed- or at least put out a media release]

I am very interested in chatting to anyone who might know who the guys are who are doing it – so we can help the cops catch them.

Just the usual run around unless somebody is dead, and then some…

When I rang them this morning…. funny….. it wasn’t on the system…. well that’s computers for you

If you call 000 requesting police assistance, a job/case is created. It’s on the system before police even arrive. My guess is they were too polite to say you have no right to have information about multiple assaults that have occured recently.

Ah Crystal Meth, the choice of champions!

I never would have guessed.

Further to my first comment: I was told that the scum bags who attacked my friend “targeted” their punches to the chin, cheek, mouth and nose. Also, none of them spoke while they attacked him and only attacked from the side or from behind so as not to be identified. I just don’t understand what is to be gained from their actions, if these guys really want to get a rush I suggest they try skydiving – I’ll be happy to pack their chutes.

Hmmmm, well the coppers rang the victim on Sunday to let him know what was happening and said they were investigating. When I rang them this morning…. funny….. it wasn’t on the system…. well that’s computers for you. Helps with the statistics I suppose.

The cops rang the victim on Sunday with an update, proving there is an ongoing investigation, so I don’t really see your point.

Why would they tell YOU anything about the job, unless you are a victim? Ever heard of privacy laws? Explain how it helps with the statistics.

Do you know how many assaults/thefts/pursuits/fires/suicides etc happen in Canberra? Quite a few actually. Very much a daily occurence. Just cause a media release isn’t put out about something, doesn’t mean that it didn’t happen, or that the police aren’t investigating it.

One of the stories we heard about my son being hit was that it was three guys as well… but we don’t know for sure. And the poor coppers are probably doing the best they can with limited budgets and resources. As for me, I think I might just watch a few more Charles Bronson movies tomorrow then head off down to Northbourne around 11PM, “to assist the rozzers with their enquiries”.

“Well, they don’t exactly put out media releases every time someone gets punched.”

This isn’t just a punching, this is a near premeditated attack on an unsuspecting victim with no real motivation other than the adrenalin rush it no doubt releases in the attacker/s.

While it may seem low key at the moment, much of an increase and you’ll see people start to defend themselves through alternative methods.

Well, they don’t exactly put out media releases every time someone gets punched.

Does it appear to be a specific set of people doing the king hitting or just random? If so, I wonder if it’s the same gang of people that threw my friend into the metal hoarding near Academy the other week.

I can’t stand king hitters and head stompers, such a cowardly and malicious thing to do. If you’re going to have a blue do it face to face and no hitting anyone once they’re on the ground.

A friend of mine was recently assaulted while walking home at about 11pm from Braddon to Turner. This was a random attack by three men who jumped out of a car and bashed him for sport. I’ve heard of an increase of these kinds of attacks in the inner-north and am concerned as I live, work and socialise in this area. It also really p!sses me off, as I’ve always considered Canberra to be safe and predominately free of the random acts of d!ckhead violence that you’d expect in Sydney or Melbourne. I can only hope that the @ssholes who attacked my friend are caught and brought to justice, although I have my doubts that even if they were caught that they’d get more than a slap on the wrist.
