Assembly's Loss Is Riot Act's Gain

The Canberra Times is reporting that RA’s own Troy Williams has withdrawn from this year’s elections. Who can blame him, really???

According to the Crimes Troy is in Macau which would explain the absence of a comment here from him.

The question is, that if half reasonable people such as Williams walk away from the Liberals, what hopes are there for a viable alternative Shire Council, oops territory government?

God help us all!

A lot of people here want change, but only if someone else puts themselves up. Maybe its time to recognise that you get the Government you deserve – and Canberra has that

I’m sure that Mrs Seselja is intimately acquainted with both and has a problem with neither, the lucky wench!!

*sigh*

Now I’m torn between supporting Troy and his ‘owing people a few beers’ platform and his ‘campaigning for Zed and his team’ platform.

But re-reading the CT article…

Two Liberal MLAs – Brendan Smyth and Jacqui Burke – are members of the club, despite the club planning to run candidates against them.

Mr Seselja said yesterday their membership would end immediately. ‘‘It’s time to part ways,’’ he said.

So, for attending the launch of and becoming members of a new opposition ‘club’ while still being the Deputy Leader and of the ACT Liberals and Opposition Whip respectively, Zed’s only making Smyth and Burke surrender Club membership, giving them a slap on the wrist, and “Don’t do it again”?

Either his position as Opposition Leader is very shaky, or the man lacks both a spine and balls.

Can Mrs Seselja please tell her husband to grow a pair, start acting like a real man, and take some proper action?

He’ll come back as the T-1000 and then things will REALLY be shaken up in the Assembly.

Ah yes, but remember his fatal flaw, he can’t walk down stairs.

I’m pretty sure people will take you to task on that one Troy – name the time and place…….

G’day All

As you have read I’ve been out of the country on business.

This year I’m either interstate or overseas a fair bit for work and would not be able to dedicate myself properly to the campaign. On this basis I felt it better to allow other candidates the opportunity to seek election to the Assembly. Although I won’t be a candidate, I’ll be an active campaigner for Zed and his team in the elections.

From the generally supportive comments here it looks like I owe people a few beers.

Troy

MAl – odd!

Troy – smart move to stay out of the current Lib Train smash. I’m betting we see him again – maybe next election.

“a dude who can walk away and say this isn’t for me must be either something special or odd”

Mal Meninga – special or odd?

“Troy was just the person we needed, somebody who didn’t see getting elected as an end in itself”

That’s true: It seems to have given him an excuse to carry out his lifelong dream of spamming northern Canberra with pictures of himself. Seeing as he didn’t have a hope of winning the very safe seat whoever bankrolled his campaign wasted their money.

“a dude who can walk away and say this isn’t for me must be either something special or odd”

Or sensible. The Liberals are rabble and don’t have a hope of winning an election and ex-MLAs apparantly have trouble finding work after they leave the Assembly.

There’s a theory that if you want some ‘private’ information to get out, first make sure you email as many people that are ‘allowed’ to know about it, then leak it yourself. Any follow-up investigation is way to hard to pin down the culprit. Normally, however, you wouldn’t then make it obvious by applying Skid’s Step 2.

Troy was just the person we needed, somebody who didn’t see getting elected as an end in itself. The Assembly is too full of people who are full of their own importance, a dude who can walk away and say this isn’t for me must be either something special or odd.

“I liked their previous Fraser candidate Adam someone. Don’t know what ever happened to him?”

He moved to Alice Springs a few years ago and ran for the Country Liberal Party in last years election: http://vtr.aec.gov.au/HouseDivisionFirstPrefs-13745-306.htm

The Democrats will save us!

(it’s not like they’ve got anything better to do…)

Perhaps Troy will consider running as an Independant instead. It sounds as if a lot of the issues are to do with the Liberal party itself.

I could not cope with another 4 years of Stanhope.

What really happened is that Troy was asked to define ‘love’, and he short-circuited and was sent back to his Geppetto in Macau.

He’ll come back as the T-1000 and then things will REALLY be shaken up in the Assembly.

The question is, will Troy continue to post on here now that he has no personal barrow to push? Is he a fair weather Riotactor?

At the risk of sounding like a Troy fanboy, he seems to be different from the average Lib wannabe in that he has experience in industry so chould possibly be able to address some of their concerns.

The current ACT Libs seem to have about a week of business experience between themselves.
Brendan Smyth has a bit of retail experience, but everyone else seems to have held departmental roles. 😐

I haven’t put my retail experience on a resume for years. :\

I seriously think that the ACT Liberals need to be totally destroyed by their own infighting – then people like Troy can come along and rebuild the party.

At least that’s my hope!

All this talk of Independants saving the ACT is a load of codswallop too: what are single issue parties like the Motorists, Dragway Now, No Battery Hens, etc really going to do to fix this place up?

I wouldn’t be too concerned about the quality of candidates that the Libs are going to attract and put forward. Just look at how rank ALP candidates are and still get elected.

I mean seriously…we put in people to run our multi-million dollar economy whose only life experience is being a union shop steward!

The Libs could drag the bottom of their membership barrel and probably find more talent than the ALP candidates and it wouldn’t impact on the election result.

Troy\Smyth\Whoever, how do I go about getting onto this ACT Liberal party Leaked Internal Memo mailing list?

Do I need to fill in a form, or pay a special fee?

I also vote that S4anta’s party be called the Machiavellian party.

Now we know that Step 2 in any Three Step mission is “Depart to Macau while things run their course”.

Step 1 being “Write up emails that may help scuttle the party, let them get leaked”

Step 3 is still the same as always, “Profit!”…

Troy Williams is a mastermind of Machiavellian complexity!

I nominate S4anta for RA member.

Troy didn’t have a big impact in the Federal Election but that’s understandable as the Coalition was on a hiding to nothing. I liked their previous Fraser candidate Adam someone. Don’t know what ever happened to him?

Troy did a much better job than the Liberal’s Canberra candidate, Natalie someone. He was all over the place while Natalie someone came across as being lazy and uninterested.

In saying this I think Troy would have been a good Member of the Assembly. Certainly a lot better than Ms Burke, the pube expert.

I just read their former committee member, Gary Kent’s letter to the editor. It shines a little more light on this newly formed Business Club. Don’t know a lot about Kent but he should consider running rather than sitting on the sideline.

Troy, you should run as an independant.

“Where my vote would have ended up would be anyone’s guess, as ACT preferences are a tangled web of backscratching.”

Your YOUR vote goes is entirely up to you Skid.
If YOU choose to abdicate that right, then vote as per party directions. If you CARE about preference flow, then number every box exactly how YOU want them to go.

I wanna send Stanhope & Barr a message too – keep building more mountain bike facilities like Stromlo! Thanks!! 😀

Seriously though, the Libs are really struggling especially this week with the cracks opening again, and now Troy “Golden Boy” Williams leaving… The Greens and Democrats candidates will be waiting to pounce. Will be very interesting to see how minor parties & independants fare…

All we need is a 100 odd signatures and we can form our gang of winged monkeys.

If Troy ran he’d be in my electorate this time…

Where my vote would have ended up would be anyone’s guess, as ACT preferences are a tangled web of backscratching.

If you couldn’t care less then don’t bother posting. Sheesh!

I’ve got no idea who to vote for in this election. Want to send Stanhope a message, but there’s not much of an alternative.

God help us all. Who exactly is ‘us’?
I couldn’t care less. Haven’t even heard of Troy Williams…
