Today Katy Gallagher launched the ACT Population Health Commissioning Atlas.

The Atlas aims to be a snapshot of the ACT’s health, showing us how people are doing in different areas and at different ages. The ultimate goal of course being an improvement to ACT Health’s ability to meet the needs of the ACT.

“This local population health atlas provides a clear and comprehensive look at the health profile of the ACT community and maps out what different health conditions are affecting different groups in Canberra,” the Chief Minister said.

“This atlas also provides important comparisons to other Medicare Locals across Australia which helps in identifying vulnerable groups in our community here in the ACT.

The Chief Minister said that the ACT Government through ACT Health is committed to working in partnership with Medicare Local.

“ACT Health assisted the ACT Medicare Local in the production of this Atlas by providing estimates on lifestyle and cancer screening, and the Atlas will provide another opportunity for ACT Health and the ACT Medicare Local to work together,” the Chief Minister said.

So according to the Atlas, a third of us Canberran men are over-weight.

Alright guys, let’s hit the gym more often and the pizza less okay?

(I am not going to do either of those things.)
