The PANDSI Cake Off is an annual fundraiser for PANDSI (Post and Ante Natal Depression Support and Information), a Canberra-based charity supporting over 300 local families a year experiencing perinatal depression and anxiety. From telephone support to walking groups and playgroup to dad’s information sessions, PANDSI is there when families need it most.
Canberra’s PANDSI cake-off started in 2016, with all 107 cakes from the Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cakes cookbook baked and displayed in one room at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra. A huge crowd of around 1500 people streamed through Hyatt Hotel Canberra to catch a glimpse. In 2017, the event focussed on Canberra-themed cakes. Last year’s Cake-Off was followed by the production and launch of a great book, a quality 70+ page, A4 landscape, full colour on 300gsm coated gloss stock, perfect bound with a gloss cello cover. The book launch completed PANDSI’s PNDA (Post Natal Depression and Anxiety) Awareness Week.
For this year’s Cake-Off, over 50 Canberra and region locals are rolling up their sleeves, measuring out their ingredients and getting their bake on – to help PANDSI Cake Off #AussieBigThings raise funds for PANDSI.
From the Big Banana to the Big Pineapple, the Big Marino to the Big Boxing Crocodile – if you have a favourite Aussie Big Thing, chances are you’ll get the opportunity to buy it in cake on Sunday 6 May at the Hyatt Hotel. The cakes will be sold via live or silent auction, with every dollar going directly to PANDSI.
The ACT government has pledged to donation match up to $25,000 which is amazing, but PANDSI needs your help to reach that target!
The two main objectives of PANDSI Cake Off are to raise funds and reduce the stigma of perinatal depression and anxiety. How can you help?
