So what is everybody up to on Australia Day?

Is anyone heading into the city to take part in community celebrations? I have heard there are activities in glebe park, and of course the concert a Parliament house (http://celebrate.nationalcapital.gov.au/concert.htm). Other than this I have had a hard time finding info on the web about events that might be on around town. If anyone has had word of anything interesting that is on, please share!

EDIT: I found another useful link with some event details.

With a three year old daughter, I’d have to say, not at all. But she doesn’t read Citynews so I should be safe. My Cotter plans must not be dashed.

Just found out there’s going to be a Dorothy the Dinosaur Dance Party in Commonwealth Park (thanks CityNews).

How could anyone bear to miss this fantastic event??

Incidentally, given that Rusty is presumably staying here overnight, if anybody from the hospitality industry wishes to give us a report on what he’s up to, it’d be more than welcome.

Bitching about Gretel Killeen’s okay too…

Hmmmm, gee Russell Crowe at Parliament House or the Big Day Out? Let me think 🙂

At noon at Glebe Park on Australia Day, local Hip Hop band Metaphysical Combat are performing there.

It will be worth checking out…

I’m going to check out the goings on at the National Museum and also perhaps Glebe Park. Don’t know about lamb, might get a kabab at some stage.

Hope it’s not too hot, the B.O.M is predicting 35 degrees that day.

The Canberra Times had a lift out in today’s paper with what’s on this week.

There’s about 10 bazillion things on in Commonwealth Park on Thursday, inlcuding a breakfast from 7.30am which I’m considering going to. There’s also a performance at 1pm by the RMC band, which should be very good.

There’s a picnic at the Cotter from 10 til 3 with plenty of local bands (I think this has been mentioned here before).

Also, many places are offering free family entertainment and so on, including a giant pool party at Dickson Pool.

Speaking of water activities, did anyone know we have a Chief Minister’s Sailing Regatta? That’s at 2pm for three hours on Lake Burley Griffin.

Pity I have to work half the day and will miss much of what’s going on.

The CT also lists some of what’s going on this weekend but maybe I’ll save that for the wotz on guide alter in the week.

This could be the only advice the punters should take heed of:

lamb campaign
