Australia Day Live crowds get a tick

ACT Policing has praised the behavior of the crowd at the Australia Day Live Concert last night (Friday, January 25).

Police patrolled the surrounding areas of Parliament House from midday yesterday as part of the operational strategy to locate and deter youths attending the concert intoxicated.

Operation Commander Superintendent Robert Wilson said overall the crowd was extremely well behaved with minimal anti-social or violent behavior observed.

“We did take four juveniles into custody for intoxication, one juvenile in for common assault, and a juvenile for possess knife and prohibited substance. All were taken to the City Police station where their parents or guardians were called to come and collect them,” Superintendent Wilson said.

Two adults were also taken into custody, one for intoxication & disorderly behavior and one for a positive drug swipe.

Random question – who was the bloke hosting the non televised section of the event?

I didn’t think being high was a crime unless you were operating a vehicle or the like. Especially if they don’t find any actual drugs on you. Does anyone here know anything about that?
