To all who might be interested Australia First is launching its inaugural ACT branch meeting this Sunday 9th May at the Queanbeyan Kangaroo Rugby League Football Club, Cnr of Stuart St and Richard Avenue, Queanbeyan. This party was founded by Graeme Campbell, former Member for Kalgoorlie.

The meeting itself will be held in the “Boardroom” from 1200 to 1400. All and sundry are welcome to attend to hear the parties policy statement and in particular the local rep is keen to hear from you of your local issues and concerns.

Since many members will be participating in the rally at Parliament House on the following Tuesday 11th May against Free Trade in Beef some of this meeting time will discuss the organisational aspects of this.

Any queries please feel free to contact me on;

(02) 85870014 or ausfirst@alphalink.com.au

Rgs,

Jim

[ED – So what are the policies of this party? Other than making beef more expensive which doesn’t sound very Australian.]

Story in Canberra Times today. From the description of their policies, they sound very far-right.

Nothing wrong with Nationalism. Better than Multiculturalism.

Too bad your nation is already multicultural. Guess you’ll have to find another one.

Good onya CraigT, drive a hot ute and drink at the Aussie pub do we?

I’ll vote for them.

Can’t be any worse than the corrupt lying hypocrites we have at the moment.

The “semi-illiterate” comment above was clearly the product of a semi-literate moron.

Another reason why semi-illiterate mouth breathers should be banned from public discourse.

But then what would Kevin Rudd do for work ????

As much as I’m no fan of Rudd, classifying him as ‘semi-illiterate’ completely misses the mark.

About all he can do is read…

. . . and spend, spend, spend.

If you plan on attending this grubby little turnout, get a heat lamp, take off your shirt, point heat lamp at neck region for several minutes, rub some Deep heat into the neck for good measure, and then you’ll fit right in.

A Southern Cross tattoo and wearing the flag like a cape probably wouldn’t hurt either.

I recall sitting in the House gallery once and seeing that Hanson and Campbell were seated together. But Campbell was on a huge lean that seemed like trying to distance himself from her as much as possible.

That said, I can’t see this as any different from the one she started…

BTW did you know Kalgoorlie is the biggest electorate in the world?

Rebuild Australian manufacturing industries <– nice. But I wonder how members will feel when the cheap chinese goods stop flooding in and you can't get a $2 broom anymore to sweep up the bullshit on the party room floor.
Control foreign ownership <– Because Australia has enough liquid wealth to independantly develop industry.
Reduce and limit immigration <– yes, because our education system and occupational pumps out MORE than enough skilled workers to support the already desperate IT sector for example.
Abolish multiculturalism <– yeah, becuase 2 drinking fountains just means shorter queues for everyone.
Introduce Citizen's Initiated Referendums <– lol wut ?
Strengthen the family <– Only Jebus can save us! Its hard to love Dad when he's putting cigs out on your shoulder, but he does it because he loves you.
Strive to rebuild a united Australia <– ddddeeerrr Federation….

I can’t understand what such a party would have against the beef industry.

With 60% or Australian beef production exported (according to Wikipedia), ending free trade in beef would close down a large part of the the industry.

The ACT branch is holding the first meeting in Queanbeyan?

Racist and stupid.

A nationalist organisation formed by someone in reaction to the economic deregulation, Aboriginal land rights, and multiculturalism policies of Keating, overshadowed by the rise of One Nation and with a Secretary described as “a stalwart of the Australian far right who was convicted of organising a shotgun attack on the home of a local representative of the African National Congress in the late 1980s”

Why not call it the “I’m not a racist, but …” party?

For anybody who disagrees with their policies, now is the time to get on board, join up, and vote to change their policy direction 180deg.

Call me suspicious but I’m, well, suspicious of any party that invokes the country or patriotism in its name. I’m not talking about the “Australian whatever Party” or the “Something party of Australia”, I’m talking about “One Nation”, “Call to Australia”, “National Front”, “National Action”, “Reclaim Australia”…you get the idea. They always seem, to varying degrees, to equate “Australia” to “white, Christian people so the rest of you can get the hell out and take your inferior foreign products with you.” Dressed up, naturally, as wanting to “protect” us from…whatever it is that they’re against.

A quick look at wikipedia suggests that Australia First leans along similar, if perhaps slightly less extreme lines: Australia First Party.

Having said that, this is a democracy so they’ve got every right to form such parties and let the voters judge them (disagree with what you say, defend right to say it etc etc).
