Australia's Verdict

We’ve probably all heard that we Australians get to decide on Schappa’s verdict tonight, but the Indon court won’t make up their own minds until Friday. But it seems some people have already reached their own verdict and have found the poor buggers at the Indon Embassy in Canberra guilty and are sending in threats according to this ABC story.

If only we had an Australian Embassy in Canberra to send threats to influence all the decisions our courts make.

I did see the last few bits of it after turning off some random “Loony animals running a farm whilst stunned by drugs (as were the writers)” nonsense on the ABC.

Mike Munro seemed to struggle with that interview with the family, all they were saying was “She is coming home”.
Then that body language expert…how does somebody analyze body language from 5 seconds of over-edited footage?
That bloody worm thing…”The line stayed the same, so you don’t know what you are thinking”
Then the classic, Today is struggling behind Sunrise in the ratings, so guess where the phone poll results went to…yep, Today. Oddly enough, I heard the results on the 1am news on 2CC, a whole 5 hours before the ratings extravaganza.

And yes, I do sleep, just not enough.

Samuel

Maelinar – I’m pretty sure I saw the bag of weed, roughly the size of a bodyboard, on top of the board, in the bag, in a picture.

Maybe Schappas bag wasn’t tight. But that doesn’t seem to be the salient issue.

I thought the body board was still in the bag when she got there. And was also under the impression (possibly wrongly — most of my knowledge of this case comes from Hack on jjj) that if it was bagagge handlers, then they probably didn’t intend to send it to Bali at all, it just didn’t manage to get removed at Sydney (?) airport before going on to Bali. And also on Hack the other day they talked to people who’d had their luggage tampered with, including one guy who claimed his jacket which took up most of his bag had disappeared so there was lots of space in his bag.
K

and hang that slimy Gold Coast “businessman” too!

wafflying?

Stop wafflying and bloody well HANG HER! and her scummy family!

@Maeliner, you asked why would someone take it out, I answered why. Your reply was non-sequiter to the act of removing the contents of luggage. Anyway, I recall, and confirm, that the drugs were stuffed in front of the bodyboard next to the zip. Your ‘credible’ friend is very wrong.

@Thumper, my assertion is based on personal experience with what goes on with baggage handlers. But yes, that doesn’t and can’t hold much weight for anyone but me and those who know me well enough. But I’ll stick to it nonetheless.

Schapelle’s luggage passed through Sydney airport the same day baggage handlers are alleged to have been involved in smuggling a large quantity of cocaine. This was in the Australian Government’s letter to Indonesia earlier this week.

Who knows what else was on the baggage handlers’ list of to do items that day.

Nice point random, here’s an answer I prepared earlier…

The guy who had his camels head played with got the head back at the end of his trip, where was her surfboard ?

do you really think that they would REMOVE luggage in order to put drugs in ?

Would they remove a camels head for a practical joke in full view of the public? ie. Yes.

How about, how much is 4 k’s of pot worth? Would that be worth taking the board all the way out and all the way back in again? How about someone threatening to cut your testicles off if you don’t play ball and move this shit through the system for them?

Keep thinking.

Ok I’m going to break my vow of silence in protest at the mass media farce of project Schapelle…

A reliable source who knows what 4 point whatever kg of mul would look like in a surfing bag has informed me that you would have to take the surfboard out to fit it all in…

Guilty ?

Regardless of how many corrupt baggage handlers there are out there, do you really think that they would REMOVE luggage in order to put drugs in ?

Still thinking not Guilty ?

Why would you take it to Bali when it’s worth more in Brisbane ? – I’ve got one word to say to you Kimmie “Jerry Springer fodder”

Guilty ?

That’s my humble opinion anyway, and flame me if you want, it ain’t gonna get Schappelle out of jail and I’ll just ignore you.

I’m just glad that the media have something else more newsworthy to focus on at the moment like caffeine pills and breast cancer so we can move onto something a little less droll for a few minutes of airtime. (I hope my sarcasm is dribbling off that sentence)

When it comes to the crunch I’m a little bit sick of the media’s requirement to squeeze every little micron of value out of a story – I’m sure everybody will remember with great fervour the blanket exposure we had after 911, I’m not saying that what was done was right or wrong, but after 2 weeks I was just about ready to fly a plane into a building in Australia just to get a new bloody story…

On that note has anybody ever come up with where these ‘Terrorist flying aeroplanes into buildings’ specialists from in the first place ? – and what did they do before 911 ?

If you’re like me the eyeballs hit the top of the head whenever ‘Corby’ and ‘Bali’ are mentioned in the same sentence…

Anyway onto more serious topics – my guess is 5 weeks

Bring on Shapelleathon Thumper ! (or would it be Schapelle-Aid) ?

They did make the point that all proceeds from last night’s program were going to Father Riley’s Kids Off The Street program.

If you are presenting the case that Australian public TV viewers are too fucking stupid to judge truth in commercial media then might I suggest you present Blue Heelers and MacLeouds Daughters in your closing comments. Case in point and that’s the game your honour.

That add really pissed me off. The whole “You decide” thing. We DON’T get to decide. if we did, she wouldn’t be rotting in an indonesian prison.

And who the fuck are we, the public, to judge anyway!

TV shits me.

Yes, I too spent the evening repelling the forces of The Pig whilst simutaneously preparing to take down The Snake with my catapault and macemen. Stronghold is an old game but still lots of fun. And there is a sequel out!

And I finished the night reading a few more pages from Iron Council while Schappas languished fearfully in a Bali toilet.

RG – you’ll be glad to know that half the RIOT team was staying very informed by killing bad guys on the PS2 last night – sorry I have just been reminded we were the bad guys and were just killing anything we could – such destruction has never been seen before

I’m surprised any RiotACT readers tuned in at all…

*fnarr!*

It was a bit crass. They even trotted out Pauline for her opinion.

It did blow a number of myths out of the water, particularly the myth about her having frequent trips overseas.

The Melbourne Uni bloke talking about the Indonesian legal system was informative. He noted there are many avenues of appeal and all of these can consider evidence not previously considered in earlier trials.

If she gets off how long till she gets her kit off in Ralph or Penthouse. I give her 3 months.

I can’t believe they saw fit to show that programme last night. And to have those talk show hosts like Mitchell on there banging on about how corrupt and wrong the Indonesian system is was just laughable. These are the same guys who hang shit all over the Australian system on a regular basis for letting people out of jail too early. Cocks the lot of them.

Shoot the bitch! I like her interpreter, but.

Now, now Ralph. I have never watched TT (in fact wouldn’t know what time its on) and don’t get my ‘speculation’ from the tabloid media.

Her background has a lot to do with the case at hand. The answers to those questions, I’d suggest, have a lot to do with the case. Having spent a lot of time in court rooms I don’t base what I say on pure speculation

I hear Channel Nein is bringing back the worm for their Corby special tonight.

vg – speculation is speculation.

the facts of the case being judged are really all that matter.

did she import the drugs ? is she a dupe ?

everything else has no bearing at all, just serves to titillate the tv watching couch spuds.

Good to hear someone else has been getting their Corby fix from Today Tonight.

You forgot to mention she was also a Tokyo bar girl.

Ron has the hots for her.

As if what we think really matters in this case.

Suffice to say there are a couple of very important questions that have never been answered with any degree of genuineness by Shappas team:

1) Exactly what is Ron Bakir’s relationship to Schapelle or, more succinctly, what was it before this whole hullabaloo?; and

2) What does she do to sustain a lifestyle that sees frequent trips overseas, particularly to Bali? All that gets stated is that she is a 27yo beauty student.

Those questions, plus some other remarkably unasked questions about her family’s financial background, would possibly throw a whole new light on the press’ newest ‘darling’

Free Schapelle, she’s a good sort.
