I worked for the same public institution for some 40 years and am now retired-or I claim to be. The reality is quite different having co-founded a Veterans Association, a suburban Neighborhood Watch, SE Tuggeranong Residents Association, Canberra Public Transport Alliance. I discovered recently my English grandfather did similar things. I spent most of my spare time, outdoor life, golfing, bushwalking, camping and caravanning, canoeing and sailing, and the team ran Canberra's first ever Elvis convention in 1988. I am father of four wonderful young adults and a number of grandchildren who do justice to their parents. I came here in 1968 but was called to help the Vietnamese achieve peace from bombs and bullets. I eventually returned in 1988 and have been here since, trying to make MY CITY the Nation's best kept city.
