As a newly accredited provider to ACT Government employees, Autovate can assist you to not only enter a Novated Lease, but also ensure you clearly understand the process and the benefits that you receive.

Autovate Australia offers a quality of service and advice not previously available to employees seeking a Novated Lease arrangement for their personal car.

Recently announced government changes regarding the kilometres travelled requirements for vehicles subject to a Novated Lease has now made Novated Leasing beneficial for just about all employees who run a motor vehicle. The ability to use your pre-tax income to pay for your vehicles running costs can add thousands of dollars a year to your salary.

Autovate are experts in the provision of personally tailored leasing solutions. This incorporates the total costs of leasing and running your car, with the addition of large discounts on most makes and models of new cars. Other benefits include insurance specifically tailored to Novated Lease, competitive leasing arrangements, fuel cards, discounted tyres and car servicing. Above all however there is the Autovate difference; a knowledgeable and caring team who will assist you every step of the way to make sure that you have all of your questions answered before you enter your lease agreement.

To give a recent example of the savings that can be achieved with a Novated Lease let’s have a look at Brett who recently purchased a new house and therefore could no longer use public transport to get to work. Brett considered his car to be too unreliable to do the number of kilometres he now had to travel so decided that as his employer allowed him to salary package, he would investigate a Novated Lease on a new car.

Brett firstly went to the Autovate website and used the online calculator to see what he could comfortably afford. Once he had worked out a dollar value of the vehicle that best fitted his budget he contacted an Autovate consultant who collected the relevant information, helped determine the actual kilometres he would travel and then assisted Brett with the best choice of vehicle to suit his needs.

Brett always thought he needed to be doing high kilometres to benefit under a Novated Lease, but with traveling an average of only 17000km’s a year, Brett’s savings worked out at $3214.00 a year on a brand new Mazda 3 Sedan. This was compared to buying and running his car using the normal bank finance and after tax money for running costs. On a 4 year lease Brett’s total savings amounted to more than $12000.00.

Here at Autovate we understand that not everyone wants a brand new car, so under the Autovate program you can not only Lease a new car but also a used (up to 5 years old) or even your current car.

As an additional benefit you will be covered by Autovate Assured insurance, which not only provides you an exceptional cover for your normal insurance needs but also covers the total payout of your lease or a replacement vehicle in the event of a total write off.

Autovate has a local representative based solely in Canberra so you will be sure that we will use our local knowledge to assist you to get the maximum benefit when dealing with ACT based car dealers and service providers. If you need to meet to discuss your Novated Lease questions our Autovate representative will be readily available.

Hi Autovate,

I have been leasing a car through the company which my employer provides for salary sacrificing. The lease is about to finish, can I lease my next vehicle through you or do I need to use who my employer provides.

Thanks

This is dependant upon who your employer is. Autovate can deal with most companies who give their employees choice. Best to ask your HR people if you can shop around for your lease or are you locked in with no choice.
Hope this helps.

Hi Autovate – thanks for the reply.

Gday,
Apologies for the slow reply. I am a newbie on the site!
What an awesome day in the berra!

Unfortunately it is not possible to novate an FBT exempt vehicle as per the link you provided.
The exemption on the link you included is referring to FBT incurred due to employees with access to an employer owned vehicle. This is different and separate to the FBT provisions for novated leases.
It sounds like you are an employer providing a car to employees? You would have to pursue options other than a novated lease in the circumstances.
In answer to your second question there is a minimum value of $10k for the car and the maximum age is 6 years old when the lease begins. There are able to be exceptions on a case by case basis for classic cars and the like. (not sure if the DATSUN 180B qualifies though). these exceptions are very rare.

The question you ask is a very good one though and touches on several issues – as I am based in Canberra if you need to meet to discuss further I am happy to do so.
I wish I could be the bearer of better news and save you from the taxmans long tentacles

Cheers

Hi Autovate, a couple of quick questions…

Do you allow for (that is, can you handle) leases that are FBT exempt (e.g. as per http://www.ato.gov.au/businesses/content.aspx?menuid=0&doc=/content/00167339.htm&page=2&H2)?

Do you allow older vehicles to be packaged (that is, vehicles where the value is negligible, but where the costs of running such a vehicle can be packaged)? Is there a maximum vehicle age?

Thanks!

Used cars up to 5 years old are OK, according to the OP.

I saw that, but was hoping they would make exceptions.

Hopefully there will be a positive answer for the other question.
