ACT Policing is investigating an explosion at a house party in Holt overnight (Saturday, 26 May) which left three people injured.
Around 12.40pm Police were notified by ACT Ambulance Service (ACTAS) that they were attending an address in Holt in response to a woman with burns. Police had earlier attended the same address in relation to a number of noise complaints stemming from a party at that address and had been required to shut the party down.
When police re-attended the address, they identified three people who had suffered burns as a result of an explosion. Witnesses told police that an item had been thrown into a drum in the rear yard of the property causing the explosion.
ACTAS attended and treated a woman with burns to her legs, arms and face. Two men were also treated for burns to their lower legs. All three people were taken to the Canberra Hospital for further treatment to their injuries.
A number of witnesses were identified and are currently assisting police with the investigation into the cause of the explosion.
If you were at or around the party we’d love to hear about it.
