Bad girls blue in Civic

The Canberra Times has a piece on rumoured violence in Lyneham High School spilling onto Civic streets.

“My daughter’s a naughty little girl, but she doesn’t deserve to be smashed in the face.”

The Education Department was unable to comment at this stage for privacy reasons, but said it would make sure all possible support for the family was in place.

Nevertheless, the victim’s mother said the department had failed students.

“They don’t expel miscreants, they don’t expel criminals, they keep them there.”

I know both of the girls.
The one who bashed the other one is a tanky b*tch, and the “victim” was saying some pretty harsh stuff about the attackers family.

Is it really the fault of the school if a teenager is attacked well away from the school grounds on a weekend?

are you serious? schools cant expel people anymore?

I suggest the Ludovico Technique

How about a bit of the old moloko plus, eh droogs?

Worth a try 🙂

As already mentioned, the victim will often report incidents to police, but won’t make a statement, for fear of making the bullying worse.

The last few posters are right – the schools are a toothless tiger when it comes to violence in schools.

Some plan fights outside of school hours and some even walk/bus it to other schools to pick fights.

The victim only has to ‘look’ different to be bashed these days.

What annoys me more is when victims have to change schools but the bully – who could be responsible for 8-10 kids leaving (which I know has happened in the past) – but NOTHING happens to the bully. They get to stay at the school and continue on their merry way.

not to say your daughter is in the right, she must of said or done something to annoy the other party

For some people just being on the same planet as them is enough to annoy them. Being annoyed doesn’t make acts of violence acceptable.

(It is assault), but the victims are usually too scared to speak up (or press charges) because the others say (& their friends)that if you tell anyone we’ll get you worse tomorrow, or l8tr when yr not ready for it, so they don’t want to do anything about it (not to say your daughter is in the right, she must of said or done something to annoy the other party, but it’s still no excuse for violence. if they do report if the attacker usually gets away with a slap on the wrist, with a warning don’t do it again. But because most are still under age there’s not much the courts can do about it

Annoyed about the rising violence in ACT

I hate to say it, but in a school setting it’s often because the person starting the fight knows they can, they also know that IF they get caught there is little the schools can really do, and besides the kids who pick fights are also the ultimate in spin, they can make it seem as if it was the other kids fault.

Oftan the victim only crime was because they where there and they are an easy target. Rarely does there need to be a motivation, and the victim usually does not need to do anything to annoy the other party except for existing.

Is that the same as when women who are sexually assaulted “must have been asking for it??”

Hang on a minute, isn’t violence like this considered assult? Why doesn’t the coppers step in (and then let our legal system allow them off without even a slap on the wrist).

For some reason schools can be considered an assult safe haven. In otherwords it’s the one place where you can assult someone and the worst that could happen is you miss out on a few lunch times, at worst you get a couple of days holiday.

Meh, maybe the girl should learn some sort of martial arts, bullies don’t like fighting people who know how to fight back, plus the discipline which goes along with just about every martial art kinda stops you wanting to pick fights. Speaking from experience here as someone who a bully thought they might try it on with, took a stand (didn’t even have to throw a punch in the end) and within seconds the bully was running for their “life”.
