battle of the badges

Mr Stanhope is giving a plug to a 24 hour treadmill challenge now underway between the Police and the Fire Brigade:

The event will see 50 fire fighters and 50 police officers running on two treadmills in Garema Place from 2pm today (Friday 28 May), with the team covering the greatest distance to be declared the winner.

Mr Stanhope said the Government was pleased to donate $3000 towards the event, which was raising funds for the Snowy Hydro SouthCare rescue service.

Something to look out for while in Civic until 2pm Saturday.

ACT Police beat the Fire Brigade. By a fair way too it seems. Guess ‘hero’ status doesn’t transfer to fitness and ability…

Meeeeeeeow.

It’s spelt ‘donut’ anyway…..and it was red, not pink

Poster #1 goes on with some vague reference to being a “hero” that I don’t get and #2 is from a clown trotting out the standard American doughnut cliché. Genius. If you’re going to sledge anyone make sure you have some wit about you first, especially if you’re going to take them on about a fund-raising campaign.

Happy to be the first to say WELL DONE to everyone who participated, especially after they and other emergency workers worked the miserable weekend in the wet & cold, including dealing with yet another fatal car accident. Some of us have some respect for what you do.

Maybe the pink doughnut hanging in front of the AFP’s treadmill gave them the outside edge.
