Bakery Cafe Bunda Burger. $10 lunch review

bunda burger

The Bakery Cafe is a nice little spot on Bunda Street with a blackboard menu onto the street and many of the options under $10.

For $9.50 I ordered the “Bunda Burger” which came with chips.

The chips are, in my opinion, the very pinnacle of chip perfection. Crispy, salty potato goodness.

The burger is well put together. it didn’t slip or drop while I ate it, however there was some drippage. Fortunately it comes in an enourmous styrofoam container so the mess is contained.

If an old school burger with the lot is what you’re after then it’s definitely worth giving them a go.

(For more sub $10 lunches in Civic check the tag, if you’ve got recommendations let me know.)

One day JB will get to also review food outside of Civic such the Hospital food down in Garran following his coronary bypass.

Mmmmm Cafe Hos. Many a time I’ve eaten there – both as a hospital employee (many moons ago) and, recently, as a patient. Their salami and salad multi grain roll is the only thing that sustained me during my brief admission! Whenever I’m donating blood/visiting old friends etc – I make sure sure it’s around lunch time.

Looks OK, but I don’t see any sign of the telltale red stain that signifies beetroot.

A proper traditional Aussie burger needs a slice of Golden Circle beetroot!

I’ve eaten there twice, both times it was as if the food had been lightly salted, then heavily salted, dropped in a bucket of salt and then had a truckload of salt tipped on it. No sir, I didn’t like it.

Would Sir like some hamburger with his salt?

That looks alright actually.

If its the place I think it is, it’s amazing how you can walk past a place for so many years and never have even considered getting anything from there!

Finally, you can get a proper hamburger in Civic. The bun looks a bit fancy, but it does look the goods.
