ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery at the Hot Lantern Chinese Restaurant in Jamieson last night (Sunday, March 3).

Around 8.35pm, a man armed with a knife and wearing a full faced light coloured motorbike helmet entered the restaurant threatening three employees before stealing a handbag containing a small sum of cash and personal cards.

On leaving the offender walked to the counter area, opened the cash register and took an undetermined amount of money.

The man is described as 170cm (5’7”) solid build and was wearing a black long sleeve top and black pants. He was last seen riding his green two stroke motorcycle towards Bowman Street.

Prior to the aggravated robbery the offender may have parked his trail bike on the footpath outside Ricardo’s Café, Jamieson Centre.

No one was injured during the aggravated robbery.

Seriously, lock these deadbeats in jail for a minimum of twenty years. Parade their faces and life stories on a government website, put them on billboards and generally make examples of them. They deserve it morally, and social pressure and ostracisation, as opposed to just jail, is a powerful fear of almost everyone.

It’s ironic, though, given these male offenders invariably have girlfriends who know of their boyfriends’ violent acts or dispositions, and chomp at the bit to remain loyal to them. If certain parts of society and certain groups didn’t reward these people for acting like untermenschen, far less would be doing it.

That’s the bogan way.

It’s Jamison actually…no “e”.

I’m sure we can find some mitigating circumstances if we all put our thinking caps on. I’ll start the ball rolling with; “Perhaps he had mental health issues, which led him to do this….”

That’s right in the middle of the Centre, right accross from Coles.Hard to find a more visable spot to rob.
