A 30-year-old man from Crestford in NSW was involved in a collision last night (Monday, October 31), and returned a high-range alcohol content (AC) more than five times the legal limit.
Police were called to Bellchambers Crescent in Banks around 9.45pm yesterday, where a badly damaged vehicle was located. It is believed the vehicle had collided with street signage at the intersection of Tharwa Drive and Pocket Avenue and had come to rest on Bellchambers Crescent.
The male driver undertook a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result. He was taken to Tuggeranong Police Station, where he returned an alcohol content (AC) reading of 0.277.
The man was issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice, and checks revealed that he had been disqualified from driving until August 2013.
The man was taken to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with driving while disqualified and high-range drink-driving. He was given Watch House bail and will be summoned to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
