We want to put together a mega compilation CD of Local Bands – THIS WILL NOT BE FOR SALE. What we want you to do is send us a bunch of your bands songs, be they albums, demos, EP’s, live recordings or whatever… it doesn’t matter we wont discriminate.

Why? I hear you ask – are we trying to scam free music from your talented arses…. The answer is YES but it is for a greater purpose. What we want to do is play this compilation CD (in shuffle mode) in between sets at our gigs.

We believe this will be beneficial to the local scene, in that it will get different bands music out to the punters – whom may never here your band otherwise. And it will make your music more recognisable to everyone – which we see as a very positive thing.

So email us at bofmonkeys@yahoo.com.au so we can organise delivery and seek written permission to use your music. Obviously anything that is sent to us will not be misused – ie we will not burn copies for our friends / girlfriends / boyfriends / pets etc.

We encourage all bands to do the same – so inturn we are happy to burn copies of this CD for any band that submits material.

We will only accept material from bands or an official delegate of the band.

Any questions feel free to email us.

Lets get this scene kicking.

– No we won’t discriminate against any genre….. we may however discriminate against anything extremely offensive… but anyone who knows us will know that that bar is raised pretty high

– We are happy to take material from bands current, defunct or in any other state of existence…. so long as they are local 🙂

“because current bands don’t seem to have as many recordings out as there used to be a few years back”

Plug! Little Smoke launch their new single “Skins” at ANU on Thu 6 April. There…new music from locals. 🙂

Nice idea monkeys. Some great Canberra anthems that deserve a wider airing. Two questions:
– any particular style you’re after?
– old Canberra bands as well as current ones? (because current bands don’t seem to have as many recordings out as there used to be a few years back when there seemed to be CD launches every month – or maybe I need to get out more)
