Territory And Municipal Services (TAMS) are advising that the Barton Highway closures are going to over-run.
They’re hoping to finish the works on 24 February now, instead of the planned 20 February.

The bridge fell down because people were allowed to drive under it?

And look how that turned out.

1. Doubt it’d help, since it’s the Barton Highway that’s closing, not the GDE where it goes over the existing bridge.
2. Award for street art goes not to the (unused) variable road sign, but the sign in front of it detailing the government program under which it was built. Yes, a sign, advising on the building of a sign. WIN.
I hope they have it completed by the time the Royal Canberra Show starts otherwise there will be one helluva balls up there . . .
Funny, first time they tried building the bridge it didn’t required such extensive road closures.
You’d think that big shiny and new signage board on Gungahlin Drive between Sanford St and the Barton Highway would advertise this.
Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in use. Or it might be street art…
Well, that brings the end date into line with the signs, but implies that the closures are starting now, while the signs reckon you’re still good to use that stretch up road up to the 14th. Seriously TAMS, get your story straight. It just looks like amateur hour right now.
