ACT Policing and Emergency Services will ‘battle it out’ tomorrow (Friday, 25 February) as part of the Camp Quality’s Verti-COOL Challenge.
ACT Policing, ACT Ambulance Service, ACT Fire Brigade, ACT Rural Fire Service and ACT State Emergency Service will stage its second “Battle of the Badges” for the trophy in the race up the Telstra Tower—this time, with all five ‘badges’ competing.
Deputy Chief Police Officer Bruce Hill said that he is preparing to once again deliver an acceptance speech when ACT Policing wins the challenge.
“With all five badges competing this time round, competition is fierce, but our team trains hard every day of the year. With our ‘embarrassing’ win last year, we have no doubt who the winners will be,” Deputy Chief Police Officer Hill said.
The first Battle of the Badges competition—a 24hr treadmill challenge—took place in June 2010. The competition involved ACT Policing and ACT Fire Brigade. After a gruelling event which was run in a healthy competitive spirit, ACT Policing defeated the ACT Fire Brigade, running a total of 358km to ACT Fire Brigade’s 329km.
The challenge will raise money for the much deserved Camp Quality.
