Crikey reports that Bomber Kim Beazley will be announced as “a senior academic” for ANU in coming days.

As to whether that means he’ll be leaving Perth behind or just running up the frequent flyer points is yet to be revealed.

A mate says he’s been offered a gig at the Strategic and Defence Studies centre at the ANU but hasn’t accepted it yet. Maybe he’s waiting on a better offer from the US…

I’ve heard the story about Beasley being offered the US position too. He’d make an excellent US Ambassador. He’s been well known by several US Administrations over the last 20 years or so, and has met every President since Reagan. In addition to all this, he’s incredibly well versed in US history. I can’t think of a better candidate for ambassador. He’s young enough to take on the US job and spend a few years in academe afterward, if he doesn’t drop dead prematurely from being such a fat bastard.

Rudd no-brainers: Beazley US ambassador and Glynn Davis head of PM&C

Me neither, there have been lots of reports about the US posting. And a return to academia has been widely reported, in international relations or strategic studies, I think. And ANU is Australia’s most prestigious university.

No I didn’t.

You heard it here first.

Beazley is penciled in as next USA Ambassador.

I heard he conveyed his condolences to the family Ted Heath.

will he stay at toad??

Wonder which butt kissing College he will be attached to?

Probably Law!

It’d be nice to have him as GG, or lecture to POLS20 or 30 classes at ANU. 🙂

Is Kim Beazley coming as well?

He might put the finishing touches on his GG appointment while he’s here. 😛
