Zierholz brewery is having another promotion at the Hellenic Club on Friday Feb. 2 from around 5:30.

I believe the full range will be available for tasting & the beer baron will be there to talk to interested people.

If I drink enough, maybe I can still save some of my wilting trees 🙂

I must give special thanks to George the beverage manager at the Hellenic for putting Zierholz on tap there.

Cheers mate.

Maelinar, the only explanation is someone done you wrong guv, and it wasn’t Christoph.

The best thing is, if you go to the brewery he’ll let you have a schooner to taste for free. So go forth and compensate yourself.

I really must try the Weizen.

Maelinar, I am sorry you had an unfortunate experience with the beer in the Durham. Are you sure you were drinking my beer – I only supply the Hopmeister to the Durham, not the Amber Ale. Also, sometimes (though rarely) one can get some beerline cleaner in their glass if the keg has been recently changed so if a beer does taste like you’re drscribing it is best to take it straight back to the barperson, get them to check it and replace it. Most people seem to really enjoy the Hopmeister though it can be a bit too assertively flavoured for those with a more mainstream orientated palate. I’d encourage you to come by the brewery sometime and taste the beers here so at least we can establish if you really just don’t like the flavour or if you may have had a pint that ‘suffered in the lines’ so to speak. Also, we’re holding another tasting this Friday at Section 57 (at the Mawson Club) so you could check it and the rest of our lineup (German Ale, Amber Ale and Weizen) out there and I’d be happy to discuss it with you.
Regards
Christoph

Zierholz : A review

On Friday when I noted I’d give the Z Amber a try, lo and behold I found that it was already on tap down at the Durham Arms in Kingston.

In an attempt to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, I decided to give it a go, rather than have to drive all the way to H Block and then back to Belconnen for a lost cause. I’m glad I did.

Is Zierholz actually beer ?

On my rating scale (10 being perfect), Zierholz scores 0. The beer was tasted putridly like chilled discarded soapwater (seriously), and didn’t improve by the end of the pint.

It’s one beer I won’t be returning to – and I don’t make that comment often.

Tui, Tui, Tui – Tuuuuuuuiiiiiiiiiii!

three votes for tui

Tui – you bloody beauty Mael!

Pity it costs $29 for 18 stubbies though!

With a reference like that I might just have to check out the wild allegation.

Strongly, I believe that the best beer on the planet is Tui, an East India Pale Ale made in New Zealand, however I’m always keen to do a comparison.

best beer on the planet.
