Begging letters from Liberals

liberals begging letter

The latest Liberal Party junk mail campaign has taken a curious step.

Earlier this week, I found a letter from the libs in the post.

In addition to the usual vacuous and worn out lines, I was surprised to see Zed make a desperate outright request for donations.

This went as far as including a small form, with an option to volunteer for letterbox drops. There was a certain irony to their complaints about increasing costs and asking for donations.

Has anyone else seen this sort of thing in Canberra before? This is the first time I’ve seen this sort of request, which is reminiscent of crazy televangelists & other cheap sales tactics.

Hugh G Rection will be the number one Liberal donor in no time!

(and, being the form design pedant I am, why does it let you fill in the amount for a credit card donation in two places? Grrrrrr.)

Well, to be fair, one section is a fixed amount and the other is ‘your choice’ 🙂

I am much angrier about the unnecessary hyphenation in the second last paragraph. Honestly, check the line breaks people!

I got one of these. They spelled my apartment complex name wrong. And also ignored my “no junk mail” sign. So it got recycled.

I believe that political mail is exempt from ‘junk’ classification.

Still, begging is probably a more ethical option than funding your campaign from pokie revenue.

Excellent point.

No doubt.

Rather bold move, though. Times must be tough at the Liberal Party headquarters.

have fun peeps…

Just make sure to provide someone elses telephone number so when they call to get the right details because obvioulsy you must have made a mistake they will bother some random person just to add that extra bit of confustion to it. 🙂

“The Canberra Liberals have spent four years building a strong plan…”

…which is so good mere voters are unable to comprehend it, so we haven’t released. Trust us though, it’s super.

Show us your policies Zed.

Had to laugh at The Canberra Times on Sunday, which ran a piece that stated ‘each week the CT will ask the candidates where they stand on a particular issue’. Last Sunday’s topic was Transport. Labor and the Greens both named some policy, as did ‘Bullet Train for Canberra’.

Needless to say, Alistair Doh said they’d announce their transport policy in a few weeks.

It’s going to be a pretty one-sided column if the libs just keep saying “wait for it… waittttt for itttttt…”
