Only 16 days to go! As it strikes its hundredth year Canberra is not only coming into its own culturally, it is also an amazing destination for a skateboarder. To illustrate the level of skate heritage present in this city we cut this piece on the scene, the history, the terrain and the background behind Belco: the Southern Hemisphere’s largest skatepark. If you haven’t planned a trip to Belcopalooza yet. Watch this and plan your trip pronto. The clip contains a delve into the photo archives of legendary Dave Pang and depicts the skating of Jake Duncombe, Jack Fardell, Floyd Scott, Brodie Sellars, Nigel Banks, Reece Warren, Alain Goikoetxea, Rob Dyrdek, Willy Santos, Todd Baker, Jim Fowlie and more.

I’m sure the place will be prettied up for the event, lets see how they leave it after the day is done.

Someone will be allocated the task of cleaning it up just like any other event so what’s the big deal?

I think it’s awesome that they’re having such a gnarly event so a big thumps up from me!

Hmm unless you are a surfer, with a surf board in your arm, you should not use the word “gnarly” ever….

What’s there to pretty up? The new skate park looks great… Maybe get rid of that horrible looking building next to it, but then where do we send all the losers from Lake Ginninderra College?

Couldn’t be any worse than the filth left over after Skyfire, Floriade, the National Multicultural Festival and the rest.
