Craft beer company Bentspoke Brewing plans to add a bar, restaurant and a roofed pavilion for covered outdoor seating to its Mitchell cannery.

The company, whose Crankshaft brew has just placed third in the Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers poll, has lodged a development application for the $1,488,000 project, which also includes plans for a children’s breakout space and new onsite parking.

The bar and restaurant are to be constructed within the existing commercial building.

Other works include:

  • An indoor seating area;
  • A new entry awning with signage facing Lysaght Street;
  • New privacy screening along the southern property boundary;
  • New wall cladding to existing shed structures;
  • New automatic sliding glazed doors and glazed servery window to the west elevation of the existing building;
  • Alterations to the existing toilet areas.

The floor plan from the Development Application.

The restaurant will be 350 square metres, while the outdoor seating area will cover 250 square metres.

The traffic report from Sellick Consultant says parking will be adequate with 10 internal spaces, including one for people with disabilities, and 80 of the 119 spaces available in nearby streets.

The 25 parking spaces required for the brewery will come from the 10 on-site parking spaces and 15 of the street spaces.

There will also be five new bicycle parking rails near the entry.

Comments on the proposals close on 13 February.
