pasta

In my family, pasta is eaten eight days a week – yes, eight. My Italian grandmother, or “Nonna” as I call her, has instilled in me a life-long love of this Italian staple. It’s versatile, delicious and oh so comforting.

Having Italian heritage means my standards are pretty high when it comes to pasta. For me, it’s all about the sauce. You really can’t beat a homemade one straight from my Nonna’s backyard – but this week, we’re going to try.

I’m looking for the best pasta in Canberra. Whether your favourite has a tomato, cream, pesto or olive oil sauce or you prefer fettucine, linguine, tagliatelle or even alphabet pasta – I want to know your favourite and where to find it.

+1 for MAMA’s TRATTORIA

My vote goes to eightysix (86) in Braddon. That pumpkin ravioli with the burnt butter and all the other bits is the shizzz

My vote is for Grande’s at the lawns in Manuka. Home made pasta at its best!

Best Pasta…. Ah lets see…. My mammas, my wives, my mother-in-laws…. Need i go on. Keep it simple I say. The key for me is the simplicity of it all. If you can master the basic, aglio, olio, pepperoncino then boom.

La Rustica by the Lake in Kingston is pretty good 🙂

zucchini brothers in chisholms takeaway pastas are the best ! in particular the Carbonara or risotto con pollo.

No pasta has ever been the same since eating genuine Italian food prepared by someone elses Nonna when I was a kid. Your best bet is to visit your Nonna, or borrow somebody elses Nonna.

For pasta , i have always paved my way for MAMA’s TRATTORIA. Service there is very good and pretty good dishes out there as well.

Duck and mushroom ravioli at La Cantina at Narrabundah shops! All their pasta dishes are good, but the duck pasta is my absolute favourite.

There’s only one place in Canberra that I go for pasta, and that’s Italian and Sons in Braddon. They do a mean lamb pasta that would make even the fussiest nonna proud.

YES! I came here to post about this pasta! It’s amazing – suckling lamb maccheroni I think it’s called. So good.

However, my problem with Italian and Sons is that they don’t have a non-alcoholic beverage menu available, and then charge $7 for a post-mix machine Coke or lemonade. Super dodgy.

Loading Zone has served me up some impressive pasta dishes.

Haha I would like to see an entire post on Canberra’s best alphabet pasta.
