Canberrans seem to be pretty big on social clubs, with Friday night dinners or mid week drinks at the club. Now to confirm, when I say social club, I am referring to establishments such as the Tradies, RSL’s and Football clubs. You know those places where you can get a meal, play the pokies, win a meat tray etc?!

My personal favourite is Hellenic Club at Woden. I am a huge fan of Yum Cha and don’t mind playing the pokies every now and then, so it’s win win for me when I go.

Where do you think is Canberra’s best social club?

well, its just about having a good bunch of folks with you. I just went to Ainslie Football and Social Club the other weekend and it was pretty good.

Hellenic Club is pretty awesome – the bistro does great meals and has an awesome kids room for those who need it. There are some pretty good live bands on the weekends, and Friday night is $5 cocktails at their TGIF night. The Trattoria does really nice pizzas, and the coffee shop makes the best hot chocolates! The outdoor area is nice and airy, and caters for smokers and non-smokers. Ginseng restaurant does awesome Yum Cha. Trivia nights on Tuesdays are normally packed to the hilt. They have a bit of everything to suit almost everyone and I often use it as my go-to place to meet up with friends in the Woden area.

Vikings Erindale is always pretty good when the Friday night footy is on. Chisholm Vikings has trivia on Thursdays which gets quite busy and also has a meat raffle on Saturday nights.
