With a passion for storytelling, a lifelong obsession with property, a secret side hustle as a writer, a sprinkling of TikTok fame and years as a wedding celebrant, Bianca Way has the most well-equipped skill set for real estate.

She’s also home.byholly’s new superstar agent.

She is a born and bred Canberra girl who grew up in Tuggeranong, and attended Calwell primary and high schools before finishing years 11 and 12 at Canberra Girls Grammar School.

When she was 18 and studying marketing at the Australian Business Academy, she landed her first job, a part-time role in marketing and administration at a real estate agency in Lanyon. The marketing side of the job appealed to her, particularly composing listings and creating material for agents, but she never considered becoming an agent at that point in her career.

She began a full-time job at the Canberra Convention Bureau where she discovered a love of meeting people and networking, in addition to the creative side of the job.

She met her husband working as a defence contractor, training staff in a records management system, and in 2013 became pregnant with daughter Delila.

She stopped working momentarily, but in a complete change she became a marriage celebrant. Since then she’s married 148 couples which, she says, is an inexplicably enriching way to spend your Saturdays.

“I decided to retire when my love of weddings started to dwindle,” she said. “My love for the process, connecting with couples and supporting them was always there, but I just felt it was time to try something new.

“I wasn’t sure what was going to be next. Our son was only a one-year-old, so I wanted to have a few months to chill out with him and connect with who I was a bit. I’ve always had an interest in real estate, always watched local listings, spent time browsing real estate websites just for something to do and my downtime was a cuppa tea in front of the Lifestyle Channel. My mum, my best friend and her dad who was a real estate agent had been telling me for years to get into the industry,” she said.

She decided to bite the bullet, and began looking for an agency which had the right team and culture.

She admits she had a bit of a ‘fangirl’ moment when she met Holly Komorowski for a coffee to talk about her career aspirations. While she studied for her qualifications and licence in real estate, she spent her weekends with home.byholly to experience the job.

“I studied hard and got my qualifications, and registered by December 2019,” she said. “I had to pinch myself when Holly and I sat down at the end of it, and she said ‘of course you’ll be joining the team in 2020!'”

Bianca Way has the most well-equipped skill set for real estate.

Bianca is now working with home.byholly, and says she wants a real estate career because she loves to renovate, plan and research homes, architecture and design. Spending time with the family is also important to her, and she loves to garden with the family on Sundays. Bianca is currently trying to finish crocheting a blanket for her daughter that she started two years ago.

Renovating a home is not new to Bianca, and she has just completed renovations to her current home. She lives in Fisher in the home her grandparents built in 1970. She bought the house after her grandfather passed away and her grandmother wanted to downsize. To her grandmother’s great relief, the house ‘stayed in the family’.

“Over the past five years we have fully renovated our home, made the fourth bedroom into an en-suite and walk-in robe for the master suite, and built a great big deck off the back which we only just finished,” Bianca said.

Bianca expressed her optimism about the future of the real estate market in Canberra and said they are preparing for a busy spring selling season. Her advice to those thinking of selling is simple: declutter.

“Declutter as much as you can. Pare it right back to allow buyers to imagine themselves living in the space, while also making it easy for them to feel at home,” she said. “We work with some amazing stylists that can not only provide easy-to-apply advice on how to stage your home, but can also bring in pieces that really elevate the space.”
