Here at Riot central we just got a media release from a new local online business Getstuffdone.com.au.

It’s an intriguing concept, rather than you making oodles of phone calls, web searches, etc to get competitive quotes for those odd jobs you can’t be bothered doing or don’t have the know how to do yourself you list the job and the quotes come to you.

“Launching just a week ago, new service providers are signing up daily. Students, part time workers, and professionals looking for more business make up the majority of service providers registered on the website.

Located in Queanbeyan, NSW the website is focusing marketing efforts on the Canberra area, but will eventually go nationwide.”

Personally I like the idea but I’m not sure how successful it will be if there isn’t a quick take up by both employers and service providers.

The full text of the media release can be located below.

OUTSOURCE YOUR LIFE AT GETSTUFFDONE.COM.AU

A revolutionary new FREE website launched last week – getstuffdone.com.au. In our increasingly time poor society, the GetStuffDone website offers people a way to get back some of their most precious commodity – time – by outsourcing their daily chores. It works like this:

1. Register on the site.
2. Post the task that you need done.
3. Businesses and individuals in your area bid on the work.
4. You choose the service provider you want to perform the task.

“These days everyone is time poor.” said Janine Monty, the site’s creator. “We’re all looking for ways to spend more time with our families, or do the things we enjoy. GetStuffDone allows you to outsource all the stuff you don’t have the time or inclination to do, quickly and easily.”

Launching just a week ago, new service providers are signing up daily. Students, part time workers, and professionals looking for more business make up the majority of service providers registered on the website.

“We’re looking for anyone who runs a service oriented business to sign up on the site.” said Janine. “We already have web designers, gardening contractors, domestic help…if you would like more work for your business, just register. When a task is posted locally in your area of expertise, you receive an email letting you know. You can then bid on the task if you choose.”

Tasks currently posted on the site include typical domestic chores such as gardening, ironing or babysitting, trades such as those looking for an electrician or a pergola built. There’s even someone who needs help planning a wedding.

Almost anything can be posted on GetStuffDone. Users posting tasks can communicate with bidders via public message boards, and there is a feedback/rating system similar to other auction sites to help you select the best bidder for the job.

Located in Queanbeyan, NSW the website is focusing marketing efforts on the Canberra area, but will eventually go nationwide.

Good luck with it. Great idea at a time when it’s impossible to find tradies etc.

Their shake N bake site could use a good trim and tidy.

Maybe they should post a job for more programmers.

Nice idea, but I think the bidding process could be more time consuming than skimming through the yellow pages and making a quick call. Wishing you all the very best with your new site.
