ACTPLA has announced that they’ve approved the development of 200 million worth of shops, offices, and apartments on Sydney Avenue in Barton. Specifically Section 27 where the Macquarie Hostel used to be.

During the assessment process further consultation was undertaken between the applicant and some of those who made representations in relation to the application, to respond to issues associated with the school grounds and traffic management.

“As a result, ACTPLA has made it a condition that a number of associated works be undertaken by the lessee including the upgrade of New South Wales Crescent, which includes addressing pedestrian safety issues, traffic upgrades in the surrounding road network including intersections.

“The lessee is also required to construct a new perimeter safety fence to the Telopea Park School Oval.”

But we do need more shops – Belco, Woden, Hyper-D, Canberra Centre, DFO, Brand Depot just aren’t enough.

They seem to have a fair bit of parking under the finished bit of the project… the building that fronts National cct, next to the Realm hotel bit, and you enter via the little street out the back. However, enough for shopping, I’m not sure the hole is deep enough. That said, it’s fairly deep.

turn barton into one big car park and… oh hang on, it is.

Is this the Realm stuff? They’re flogging apartments in that already, and are hard at-it on their next hole in the ground behind it. Over the road from Telopea Park School.

that is the one. seems that the ACTPLA have had complaints about it.

re parking, turn the NSW crescent end where it is a crescent into one big carpark. problem solved.

I wonder where the workers and customers will park…

Oh, the sustainable transport plan will get them there.

the Doma group have already built 2 of the buildings, however both whereis and google maps show them under construction – and as far as I was aware, the other new buildings have started going up as well…
