According to the evening news reports and this ABC report, Parliament Drive was closed off around the House of Reps side of Parliament House this evening after some suspicious white powder was discovered. The powder has been taken for further testing and several people were quarantined, but Parliament House was not evacuated.

I’m guessing the package was some snuff belonging to a staffer, which was accidentally left on the roof of their car following a pre-commute snort?

UPDATED: Definitely not dangerous.

Betchya it’s talcum powder. A lot of balloons have a thin layer of talc inside to stop the rubber sticking to itself.
