ACT Policing has arrested a 19-year-old man after he confronted police with a knife at the Big Splash Water Park, Catchpole Street, Macquarie.

Police attended the location to speak to the man who was wanted in relation to a warrant for his arrest.

As the officers were speaking to the man he produced a flick-style knife. The man has thrust the knife at an officer who has taken evasive action and drawn his firearm. Two other officers have used Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray in an attempt to disarm him.

The assailant has continued to thrust the knife towards the officers who used OC spray three more times before the spray took effect. This caused the assailant to drop the knife, and he was arrested.

The alleged offender was then taken into custody and conveyed to the ACT Watch House. He is expected to be charged with resist apprehension with a weapon with intent to kill, possess offensive weapon with intent and other charges relating to the outstanding apprehension warrant.

100 hours community service

Could have very easily been two police shootings in a week. Move over Victoria.

Can we organise a sweep on this? Number of days incarceration he will face for threatening three cops with a knife? A dollar a punt, nearest one wins.

I’ll go for nine days.

$50 fine.

If he gets Higgins, he’ll no doubt claim he was acting in self-defence because he thought the Police were imposters trying to steal his iPod and beach towel, and he’ll probably end up receiving a suspended sentence.

He’ll be out tomorrow with a profuse apology from the bail magistrate for the inconvenience caused…

The only thing that stops me from saying “They should’ve shot him” is that the bystanders would’ve witnessed the unpleasant results or been in danger from ricochets.

What leads a bloke to this situation at 19 years of age?

😀

What a bell end.

He’d have had to have killed all three of them, had sex with their headless corpses on the Gov General’s lawn, while injecting heroin into baby toddlers, and burning an effigy of Mohammad, to get bloody nine months in the ACT. (And then it would be periodic detention.)

Shame he didnt accidentally fall into the pool and get into “difficulties” that ended up with him drowning

Oh well, off to gaol for him now where he can meet his new cell mate “Bubba”.

Yes, but what was the warrant for?

Does it matter?! It could be as simple as not showing up for court.

THREE cops executing a warrant, and he thinks “I’ll just stab them all and I’ll be sweet!” Sounds like a clever young fellow.
