The ABC brings word that the Former deputy chief minister Ted Quinlan has returned, like Cincinnatus from his plow, to run the troubled ACT branch of the ALP.

Mr Quinlan says he hopes to help the party get through some difficult issues such as the sale of the Labor clubs.

“Well I think it’s just a matter of holding down the position and sorting out a few of the current issues which the party’s quite capable of sorting but just to have someone in the chair promptly who’s got a little bit of background, a little bit of experience to see a couple of the issues sorted out,” he said.

In the longer term Ted says he wants a young thruster in the seat.

Clearly, then the former treasurer must have ran the place well enough for the Costello Review to have been someone else’s folly. I’ll apologise now.

Ted’s a good man and its good to have him back involved in local politics.

Sure S4anta, they needed the pokies, but all clubs have pokies. He developed their business plan (with Westpac, I believe – happy to be corrected) to ensure the club is the size it is today rather than another Norths.

He more than anyone else actually saved the Labor Club from extinction.

I think you are forgetting the shareholders of Aristocrat Lesire my friend.

He more than anyone else actually saved the Labor Club from extinction.

He was on 666 this morning and sounded very level headed. Probably the best move for the Labor Party – as long as they listen and play nice together… it will be interesting to see how Ted goes.

This is the ACT Treasurer whose management of the economy led to the Costello review.
