Black is the new white (which was the new green).

Option A.

Option B.

The Raiders have posted two proposed away strips for the 2010 NRL season on the club website. In a shift from the current white away jersey, black (or at least blackish-silvery-grey) seems to be what the club is going for.

There is a notable absence of an Option C: None of the above. Try harder.

Is a trendy new jersey the missing ingredient for another era of Green Machine dominance? Or is the club just looking to bump up merchandise revenue?

The hot pink refs are too much!

What about Chambray? The colour goes nicely with the jeans that most supporters seem to wear. Big merch bucks there.

There are so many other teams with black jerseys. Couldn’t they come up with something different. Maybe a tri colourored jersey with equal White, Blue and Green stripes. Meh, I still like option B. I still think it is pathetic how they are sponsored by a union and then the Tradies Club when they have their own neglected club.

Black is slimming, it’ll make them look smaller on the field.

ManU have a new away strip every season, most of them are nothing like their traditional red/black/white. Still waiting for the year of fluro pink..

It’s Man U so don’t worry, flouro pink will be their colour of choice soon enough! As a Gooner, I’m still trying to get my head around Arsenal having a blue away strip a few years ago (It’s always been yellow, FGS!!!) then of course we had the commemorative Cranberry strip for their final year at Highbury. It was very nice, but as far as homes strips are concerned ‘Red is the colour and the colour shalt be red’.

As for the Raiders new away strip, could the move to black(ish) be an attempt to look more intimidating on the field? Black is, after all, a more menacing colour than white.

What will the cheerleaders be wearing? Inquiring minds want to know.

preferably nothing? well the uniforms have been progressively going that way.

I don’t see why they need an away strip?

Simple answer: Having both a home strip and an away strips = double the merchandising dollars and, therefore, (The NRL takes a slice too).

This is the same reason Premier League football teams in England change both home and away strips each year. It all came to a head one year when the England strip changed a week before Xmas and parents that bought their kids the national shirt for a gift had to run out and get the ‘new’ version. BTW: Premier league teams now also have a third strip, which boggles the mind when they only have to play one team at a time and the ref always wears black.

True. ManU have a new away strip every season, most of them are nothing like their traditional red/black/white. Still waiting for the year of fluro pink..

I like B. It’s more edgy and racy.

I don’t see why they need an away strip? It’s not like there’s another team that clashes with lime green.. Unless you count the other teams confusing the raiders for the grass as they run over the top of them.

LOL!!!

All clubs must provide an away strip option as part of the NRL agreement. But I agree the white strip is capital O for Ordinary. And yes, of course it will help merch sales if they have another strip to sell.

I don’t understand why the Raiders need an away strip.. its not like the green clashes with any other team they play except the Bunnies, and they only ever play the Rabbitohs once a year.

They are the Green Machine !! Not the black machine. I was rather confused watching them play on Friday night. While playing the Titans who are predominantly blue, the Raiders had white jersey’s, blue shorts and blue socks. I didn’t know which team was which at first. They could at least had on green shorts and socks.

I was wondering which moron made the decision to play in that white strip. They never play in it even when away, except obviously when the other team’s colours are predominately blue and white?

Maybe it should be red given the CFMEU and tradies sponsorship.

Touche.

Ask yourself why Man U subtlely changes its home/away/whatever strip every year. Merchandising revenue. Same reason for the Raiders. I like both but prefer A….or B

It’d be better if it didn’t have that CFMEU and Tradies crap all over it.

but the team would have fewer sponsors.

I like option A best but could use the green from option B

Maybe they’re trying to get in more Panther’s promotional material?
