TAMS warn us that Lake Ginninderra, Lake Tuggeranong and the Molonglo Ski Area are still closed.

Mr Robert Neil, Director of Environment Protection for DECCEW, said closure signs had been placed around the closed areas, with the risk to public health rated as high.

“The latest results of tests carried out on these spots has shown continued high levels of blue-green algae and so in accordance with Section 21 (1) of the Lakes Act 1976 the decision has been taken to keep them closed,” Mr Neil said.

It is starting to look very much like what happened in SW Western Australia 20-30 years ago – a permanent shift in the rainfall pattern, with significantly less rain on average. They are predicting this sort of thing for this part of Australia under climate change scenarios. Maybe this is our new rainfall pattern. Or perhaps it is two back-to-back droughts? Rather grim.

The rain situation is pretty grim, innit? The radar shows some moisture in our district today, but so far no action. There’s an inland trough that should be acting as a catalyst, but seemingly there’s nothing wet for it to trigger.

Although there was an 11mm rainfall in Griffith last night! seems no one else got anything. Maybe they’re cloud-seeding.

If this weather keeps up there won’t be any blue-green menance as there won’t be any water!

Where’s that bloody rain???
