One driver will have his licence suspended and another is one demerit point from a suspension after they were caught by ACT Policing driving dangerously.

In the first incident, police were undertaking a targeted early-morning operation when they detected a grey BMW 330i sedan speeding at 148 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the Monaro Highway, Gilmore, at 6:25 am on Wednesday (16 November).

The 45-year-old driver from Calwell was fined $1841 and copped six demerit points for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 km/h.

Further police checks revealed he’d previously been caught speeding by more than 45 km/h in May 2021.

Including this recent incident, it meant he had enough demerit points applied to his licence that it was suspended.

In an unrelated incident, an 18-year-old P-plater was busted fish-tailing his Ford utility around a Chisholm roundabout.

The Isabella Plains man’s dangerous driver was captured on a dash-cam at about 4:25 pm on Monday (14 November).

Police later spoke with the man and issued an infringement notice for improper use of a motor vehicle, which resulted in a $700 fine and three demerit points.

As P-platers only have four points available on their licences, if he’s caught breaking the road rules in the next 12 months, his licence will be suspended.

Meanwhile my mercedes is written off by a guy in a car he didn’t own, unlicensed and nothing gets done.

C’mon, the road is clearly wet and we could be pleased that he didn’t crash.
