Bocci in Canberra?

My Dad is in a wheelchair and only has use of one arm and I’ve been trying to find some sports or something he can do to be social, and recently had the brilliant idea of Bocci! However, I have no idea where to play Bocci in Canberra, especially for disabled people.

Do any Rioters know of any social groups who play Bocci around Canberra? Preferably disability groups – not sure my father would feel too comfortable being the only person there in a wheelchair.

Thank you!

Have you considered ISSF style target pistol shooting? It’s challenging, fun and I think it would be feasible for your Dad. Check out http://www.cnpc.org.au.

http://www.facebook.com/actboccia is the organisation you want.

However the group mainly consists of youngish people (teens to 35) so I hope your dad is young at heart!

I think it moved from there about four or five years ago. Was in Woden for a while but I though money troubles hit them. Not sure about that so I hope I haven’t slandered them

This winery, a short drive from Canberra has a field for pétanque, which is very similar to bocce (note spelling). They specifically mention people with a disability, so you could contact them for further information. Contacts on the link.

And if you don’t want to play, it’s at a winery…
