Boofheads dumping at public housing flats

Yesterday I saw 2 blokes dumping “builders rubble” from their trailer into a hopper for use by tenants at government units.

Big signs indicate to all that it is illegal.

I rang the police to report the event and was told they “can’t do anything about it”.

I questioned the copper about whom would be the responsible party to report this incident and was told that he didn’t know.

After a bit more pushing he reluctantly took the rego of the vehicle and my name and number.

Probably chucked it into the bin and got on with his day.

What if it was some wally dumping asbestos? Could have been.

It’s about 30 metres from a kids playground.

Where do I report such things – getting a bit sick of seeing old tv’s and mattresses laying around this hopper, dumped by boofheads trying to avoid tip fees.

The police are great if some drunk or nutcase (not to pick on the mentally ill, I know plenty of nutjobs with no diagnosable problem) is causing a public problem.

Useless if something already happened.

Awww, someone’s got a chip on her shoulder. I hope the big bad coppers weren’t too unkind to you when you were causing a public problem. There is plenty of support out there for you, you just need to seek it.

Maybe you could see it as justified payback for all the times public housing scumbags have dumped all over the rest of the community in various ways on an almost daily basis?

Bogan tradies doing something discourteous.. shocking. Were they parked illegally as well?

That link specifically mentions dumping in a public place rather than someone else’s bin. I can’t imagine they’d treat it the same way.

Next time, say some black guy is videoing the whole thing on a mobile phone, and it looks like he has a dog. Plod will be there in no time, guns blazing.

Why the reaction in the first reply to whats a fair question? The sign says its illegal, its certainly not fair, and it just might be asbestos which would make it worse. Someone who cares thinks of ringing the police, if that is not the correct people to deal with that issue then they ought to at least know who to refer it to. Between the dumpers, the police and the poster who appears to think it doesn’t matter, no wonder this city is turning into a soulless dump with too much of the drawbacks of a crowded big city and not enough of the amenity. It would be nice if more people cared.

“Where do I report such things – getting a bit sick of seeing old tv’s and mattresses laying around this hopper, dumped by boofheads trying to avoid tip fees”

Most of those old TV’s and mattresses laying around were, in all likelihood, dumped by boofhead tenants who are themselves trying to avoid tip fees.

If you want to tell someone, find out who the body corporate of the unit is and tell them, that is all.

GOVERNMENT FLATS – who could be the body corp ??

The Police can’t do anything about people throwing rubbish in a bin? I mean well I never!

Just because a sign says you can’t do it, does not mean there is a piece of legislation that enforces that law.

As for dumping asbestos, again what are Police going to do? Shoot the asbestos? Why don’t you find out the company and report them to ACT Health, if of course the health of the community is what you are worried about.

If you want to tell someone, find out who the body corporate of the unit is and tell them, that is all.
