Book Club or Knitting Club in Canberra?

Hi All,

Have had a poke around the site but didn’t see any threads on where I could find information on joining a Book Club or a Knitting/Craft Club in Canberra.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can find this information? I’m probably looking for something Northside just to narrow down the scope.

Thank you in anticipation for your comments.

Hi Jessie,
If you are keen on knitting I would suggest you should check out Woolshed @ Manuka, besides having a fabulous range of knitting yarns, they also have Sunday Knitting on second and fourth Sundays of the month, 1-4pm. You should advise them of your likely appearance by phoning shop on 62950061. The other place to check out groups is Ravelry (like Facebook for knitters!)

Hi Jessie,
try contact the ACT library. There are lots of private book groups who borrow their books from the ACT library:

http://www.library.act.gov.au/library_services/book_clubs#independent

The library can send an email around to all book clubs with your info and if you’re lucky somebody might contact you. You can see on the library’s website which books are available for book clubs, actually a really good range.

Thank yo to al that posted a mesage. I’ll be looking into all leads.

Incidently, the craft is anything, knitting, general craft even quilting.

Thanks again!

Try the Front in Lyneham. It’s a well-known “knitter-friendly” venue … : )

Canberra stitch ‘n bitch at http://stitchnbitch.org/Australia/407-Canberra/Visit.html or go to ravelry.com and look for the canberra crew on forums.

Give Crafty Frog in Kambah a call, they may be able to hook you up with some groups. 6296 6240

What kind of craft? Just knitting or otherwise? I can point you in the general direction of loose groups of people who gather together for craft activities but it depends on what type of craft.

I’m sure the library contact given will be able to help you with both things; possibly to be undertaken simultaneously.

There are many interest groups in Canberra that use this site to organise themselves, if you dont find a group there, start one on the site.

University of Canberra have a book club of sorts, meets during the day, no prescribed reading, you just present a book you have read!
