Book Publisher in Canberra?

By Thumper - 19 June 2007 24

I’ve just about finished writing and illustrating a childrens book and was wondering if anyone out there knows a good publisher to whom I can flog it off, I mean, show my work to.

Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?

What’s Your opinion?

If you decide to self-publish, try Lulu.com
I bought a book from them last week by an Australian self-published author (it had a couple of Canberra stories in it). As a customer, it was easy to find and buy the book, reasonable price, and they shipped fast.

The Mau Maus were also a New York city gang in the 1960’s.

“The Mau Mau were a militant African nationalist movement active in Kenya during the 1950s whose main aim was to remove British rule and European settlers from the country.”

I smell nightmares.

A search of local publishers on True Local didn’t turn up anything that looked promising

BUT

In might be worth enquiring with Ginninderra Press

Best bet is to pick up a copy of the 2007/08 Australian Writers Marketplace — has 50 pages of contact details for various Australian publishers.

It’ll set you back about $50 but if you’re serious about writing its quite a handy resource to have.
