Chief Minister Stanhope is promoting an ACT Wine Industry Network fundraising dinner and auction at La Scala for the Queensland floods.

Among the items up for auction are wine from the Canberra region, an autographed Raiders’ top and football, a return airfare and accommodation package to Brisbane, paintings and a double ticket theatrepackage to a show at the National Convention Centre.

England cricketing great Sir Ian Botham and former Australian Test spinner Stuart MacGill are due to attend the dinner as special guests.

The organisers are hoping to attract between 100 and 200 people and the dinner will be held onThursday, 3 February 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start at La Scala Italian Restaurant, Garema Place, Civic.

“This is a good chance to help the Queensland flood victims and bid for some tempting prizes,” Mr Stanhope said. “It is sure to be popular so I’d encourage people to book their seat soon.”

I don’t see how La Scala could sit 50 people, let alone 200. Is there a secret Narnia cupboard out the back which can fit all these people?
