Born For Porn

By Ntp - 15 July 2007 5

Canberra is in a unique position in Australia in being the only state or territory where a licence can be obtained to sell and/or copy 18+ material. The Age has this article on the current state of play focusing on the production side in the porn film industry in Australia includung comment from some aspiring local porn stars.

The Legislation relating to film classification in the ACT can be found here.

astrojax, although it’s true they’ve been f***ed for some time, hopefully it’ll all come right again now they’re in bed with the Canberra Business Council.

The top line is not quite correct. It is X 18+ that can only be made/sold in the ACT. There is also a restricted 18+ catagory, oddly known as R 18+ which can be sold and made elsewere in aus. When it comes to porn the difference is in what can be shown. For example in an X 18+ movie you can show no violence, but can show full on sex. In an R rated you can show violence, but when it comes to sex you cannot show penetration, erect penises and cum shots, for example.

i’d hope screenact would be up for several positions…

If you attend an audition, be sure to rise to the occasion…

I wonder what ScreenACT’s position on this is.

It is local industry after all.
