Brazil comes to Canberra

The Centenary has sent forth word on a cultural exchange with Brazil:

A group of Brazilian artists is coming to Canberra for a number of appearances next week as part of a Canberra-Brasilia exchange program supported by the Centenary of Canberra.

The General Manager of the Centenary of Canberra, Adam Stankevicius, says the musical collective and band from Brasilia, Sistema Criolina, will take part in discussions about common obstacles and advantages artists face in planned capital cities.

“By showcasing the culture of each capital beyond its national institutions and government, the project is overcoming criticism that both cities lack youth culture,” Mr Stankevicius said.

“It allows artists from both Canberra and Brasilia to share their experiences of growing up in a planned city and how it has affected their art.
