The Liberals’ Brendan Smyth is using a new report on flat retail sales in the ACT to remind us that Katy Gallagher recommends we cancel Foxtel if times are tough:
“It is clear that Canberra consumers continue to face increasing pressures on their cost of living as a consequence of the decisions of ACT Labor.
“Increases in the cost of basic services under this government, such as water and electricity, increased prices for parking, child care costs and rates and rents are all causing Canberra consumers to become even more cautious about their spending.
“For Katy Gallagher to suggest Canberrans under financial strain ‘cancel their Foxtel for a while’ is a hugely inappropriate response given the current economic climate.
“ACT Labor should be seeking all possible ways to reduce the cost pressures on Canberra families and help consumers become more confident about their finances,” Mr Smyth concluded.
