The Canberra Times has the merry tale of Brett John Maher a 25 year old of Florey who copped a three year driving ban from Magistrate Peter Dingwall last December.

He then jumped into his car in front of the Magistrate who alerted police. Maher, who has never held a licence, plead guilty yesterday and awaits sentencing on 7 March.

Another good case for setting up the stocks in Garema Place and letting the unemployed sell over-ripe fruit and eggs. Everybody wins.

I know a guy without a license who drives regularly, and has done so for nearly 30 years.

The question with Brett John Maher is waht the justice systems plans to do about it. The standard measures are obviously not working.

LSWCHP……..I am so there with you on this one! Not only is it a suitable punishment but it will also stop him for adding to the gene pool and therefore costing the taxpayers more money is the future from his idiotic offspring.

This person has no regard for the law so what is a community program going to do for him??

A suitable punishment for repeat offenders like this would be for them to be barred from the ACT for a period of time, like what happened to Todd Carney in Goulburn.

Can anyone tell me if there is anything short of cutting this guys hands off that will stop him from driving a car?

Surely there must be some pc/make everyone feel better/taxpayer funded community program he can participate in.

Crush his car. Crush his fingers. Slowly, slowly, slowly….crush his testicles.

Call me cynical, but I just don’t think Brett John Maher is all that repentent for his crimes.

A brainectomy might help.

On second thoughts…

Dumber than a condom with air holes.

I think a jail term is the only thing that may stop this guy from driving, and only because he’s in jail.
