Hello good people.

I have a dream … to bring my favourite band, The Shins, to Canberra.

Please go here and ask the Shins to come to Canberra during their next Australian Tour in July (they will be out here for Splendour in the Grass).

You can listen to their latest album here.

Comments discussing the pointlessness of online activism are not welcome as they will only burst my bubble. You can only try, people.

Thanks.

Who?

Oh dear, trying to be funny by displaying profound ignorance.

Its not the band who decides where to play. It is a promoter.

If you felt like $20K was a good enough gamble (possibly on the conservative side) and you felt that enough people would come to make your money back, then go for it.

The local promoters obviously don’t have that confidence which is why hardly any decent bands come here anymore.

I’m curious as to why a band like the shins wouldn’t come to Canberra. Not like they need stadiums like many big international acts. Even Kylie came to Canberra in 97 before she became popular again.

Surely if they are liked enough they’d come here to make some money like every other band that isn’t super famous and need a stadium.

But where would they play? They might not be ‘super famous’, but they’d easily fill venues like the Metro/Enmore theater (where i saw them a few years back)/Hi-Fi Bar/Tivoli. ANU refectory maybe, but they’d be running the risk of it being ‘too cold’ or raining on the night, and fickle/lazy Canberrans not bothering to show up.

To the OP – If they’re your favourite band just drive to Sydney to see them play.

32 people demand it, that’s already a big gig for this town.

What happened to the dream about bringing One Direction to Canberra..Hmmm?

Meh, its asks you to log in and give a whole bunch of info for spam purposes. You’ll have to go back to old fashioned pen and paper for me to sign up.
